Pour-over basics

A simple pour-over at a desk needs a cone dripper, paper filter, kettle, scale, and medium-ground coffee. Aim for about 15 grams of coffee to 250 grams of water (roughly 1:16).

Rinse the filter with hot water, add the grounds, bloom with ~50g water for 30 seconds, then pour the rest in slow circles until you hit 250g. Total brew time is usually 2.5–3.5 minutes.

If it tastes sour, grind finer or brew hotter. If it tastes bitter or hollow, grind coarser or shorten the pour.
